dr_zrfq pointed me here, knowing my interest in artichoke-like objects, and that I once tried cooking cardoons (a cardoon?) but failed to get past my disbelief of the time required for cooking.

It occurs to me to wonder how they would do simmering in a crockpot all day; that might take a lot of the inconvenience out of the long cooking time.
