I love handing out candy at halloween & seeing the kids costumes, it's kind of like paying back into the system for all the fun I had trick or treating as a kid. But it has certainly declined of late. This year we had to skip because it was a friends 40th birthday party, but next year I will be going all out & the yard will be a mass of tombstones & skeletons sticking out of bushes etc. Friends of mine have a theory that it takes about 3 years of consistently doing up the yard big time & handing out the good stuff before your house becomes a "destination" stop for the kids. Calendar willing I'm going to test that theory ;->
