I know what you mean about overcoming the effort. I think it's one of the reasons not to think in terms of trying to duplicate the functionality of a Usenet group, but rather to experiment with how to use the things LJ does well to create an equivalent, but non-identical, experience.

I'm one of those people whose posts on rasfc have already been disappearing. (And my recent ones involved breaking a long-standing rule about not responding to anything ddf posts.)
