This being Thurber, one does wonder whether the story is strictly news reporting or enhanced for entertainment purposes. On the other hand, it's not that much different from the stereotype of Catholic names being all "Mary Somethingorother". Or different from Anglo Saxon parents naming all their kids with compounds based on the same prototheme. Or ... there is very little new under the sun in name fashions.
