Peculiar Splash ID 6.1 upgrade problem in case it might be useful

I sent the following off to Splash ID tech support even though my last crazy, ridiculous stab in the dark seems to have solved my problem. I'm posting it here on the off chance that it might help someone else who stumbles across this via the right keyword search.

Having updated the versions of Splash ID on my iPhone and iPad I found I needed to upgrade the desktop version to 6.1 in order to synchronize and did so.

As background: previously, in order to have the same data on both mobile devices (with their separate accounts), I would have to keep one as the "changed" version while not making any changes on the other, then synchronize the "changed version with its account and export the result. Then switch to the other mobile device account on my desktop (the one with no changes), delete all the records, import the backup from the "primary" device, then write the changes to the "secondary" device. (All of which makes me overjoyed that I can now synchronize both devices from the same desktop account -- thank you!!!)

For some reason, I was able to synchronize my "primary" device (my iPad) prior to discovering the need to upgrade the desktop, so I did so and then exported my backup file. After deleting the records on my "secondary device" desktop account, I was able to import the backup file to populate it with the updated records. But when I went to write that data to my "secondary" device (my iPhone) I received an error message and discovered the need to update the desktop program.

After upgrading, I followed the suggestion regarding user accounts and created a "new user" account rather than merging old accounts, then imported my backup file to this new user. All files imported successfully. However when I synchronized my "secondary" device (which then had zero records, recall), setting the synchronization to "Mac overwrites mobile device" all the messages and displays indicated a successful sync, however no records were transferred to the device. I tried again with the settings for "synchronize" and again the messages indicated a successful sync but no records were transferred to the iPhone. (And no changes were made to the desktop.)

With some trepidation, I tested the synchronization with my "primary" device (knowing I still had the backup) by adding a "test" record to the desktop. This successfully synchronized with the primary/iPad version.

So, in summary, after upgrading the desktop to 6.1 ... hmm, that was weird. I tried one last test: adding a "test2" record to the iPhone account with the intent of synchronizing to see if it would show up on the desktop. After hitting "save", the iPhone app crashed, but then when I logged in again, all my data was miraculously there, including the "test" record (but not the aborted "test2" record).

So maybe I've discovered a really peculiar solution to this problem in case anyone else ever has it. But someone more knowledgeable than me will have to figure out _why_ it worked.
