I've been having some thoughts on structure and point of view and whatnot. The original is in first person from Alithea's point of view, but interspersed with the various letters received and sent, as well as the travelogue material and the occasional extensive book quotation. And there are several points where Alithea notes that Arabella is less interested in sightseeing. So one approach I'm pondering is formatting it almost as a "travel scrapbook" with journal entries from both the women, the various pieces of correspondence, snippets of the travel notes, but then cutting them short with Alithea noting the Arabella has told her to leave all that boring stuff out, or something to that effect. Given the way I intend to present the over-arching emotional plot, it would be useful to have both women's points of view to show their developing thoughts about each other that aren't shared until the end.
