TIred tired tired

Yesterday started with shopping at entirely too early an hour. I was just too twitchy to try to squeeze out another half hour of sleep in the morning, but after I was up and out the door I realized that most of the stores I needed to hit weren't actually open at 8am on a Sunday morning. So I picked up a Chronicle and a mocha at Starbucks which got me through to a more reasonable hour. Then TJ's for some groceries, OSH for sheet metal (for a modification to my woodstove flue) and wire mesh (to replace the old spark arrester, as indicated by the chimney sweep). The fireplace/sauna store was just next door (for the heatproof caulking for the flue modification plus new fiberglass sealing cords for the stove door) but they didn't open until 11am, which it wasn't yet. So off to Ikea for the dining room chairs (half a Christmas present from the parents, half on my own hook) and Office Max for a chair mat for the computer. (I'm being a bit over-careful about protecting my new floor -- I'll get over it eventually but right now I'm like a new car owner before that first scratch.) Then back to the fireplace/sauna store and home.

The weather was nice, so I got a chance to remove all the cardboard from Saturday's Ikea madness to the recycling bin. The contractor came and finished up the last bits, got paid off, and returned the key. (He still has to finish hauling away the debris from the backyard.) Then the rest of the day alternated working on the biostatistics term paper and putting stuff away. The paper is about 90% finished, but that last 10% woke me up at an unreasonable hour this morning. (It isn't that I'm stressed about the paper -- it's a breeze. I'm stressed that it isn't ticked off on the checklist yet.) And somewhere in there I did a more detailed measurement of the cut-down cabinets to be stacked in the kitchen and discovered that one of them exceeds tolerances by about 4 mm. This is very annoying because it's the same amount of work to take that 4 mm off as it was to take off the inch or so I already did. I'm not sure why my measurements got off. So the rest of my week looks like this:

Monday lunch - cover for boss at monthly "strategic senior staff" meeting.
Monday afterwork - finish paper and prepare brief Powerpoint presentation for class.
Tuesday lunch - lunch with [livejournal.com profile] thread_walker, which hasn't happened since before Thanksgiving due to scheduling.
Tuesday afterwork - drive down to the south bay to go see Happy Feet with [livejournal.com profile] scotica for her birthday.
Wednesday lunch - unprogrammed?
Wednesday afterwork - into SF for the biostatistics closing session with paper presentations.
Thursday lunch - pop home to do the flue work that needs daylight (i.e., climbing up on the roof to replace the spark arrester).
Thursday afterwork - cut down the other cabinet by half an inch or so.
Friday lunch - pop home to oversee the crew moving the woodstove into position and stacking the cabinets.
Friday afterwork - complete the flue modifications, position the woodstove, and reconnect the flue.

In any remaining time, I'll get more stuff put away in the living room and return to my housecleaning program (which got put on hold when the entire house was either stuffed full of misplaced furniture or in a ripped up and uncleanable state). I've also let the gym slide for the last week but that was due to being sick and then having a lingering cough. I'm back on the treadmill today. And I've missed two days of pattern-gathering budget -- may try to actually make it up since the rows are getting a lot shorter now.

Very tired.
