Amusingly, back in high school my career goal was to be a zookeeper. (Greatly influenced by growing up in San Diego and spending lots of time at the zoo.) Grownups convinced me that it wasn't a high enough aspiration and at the least I should aim for being an exotic animal veterinarian. So I entered college planning on applying to vet school...and then realized that I wanted a job, not an all-consuming career. I might have been happy being a zookeeper. Who knows?
