Patterned gathering project

Here's that experiment with patterned gathering in fine linen that I mentioned yesterday. This is just a quick-and-dirty place-holder for a future article, so please don't link to it.

How cool! Are you going to make a full something-or-other to show the technique off?

Yes -- at some point I'll be trying a reconstruction of one of the albs or alb-like garments. If I could get a better picture or diagram of it, I'd like to try a reconstruction of the alb-like garment of Saint Clare, but I may simply try some sort of composite of what I do have information on.

Very cool. So what ratio are you going to try next?

I'm actually trying to see if I can get a lower ratio while still getting the very smooth ground surface. I may try the same fabric but doing the ground with an over-2/under-2 stitch and the pattern stitches going under 6.

Wonderful!!

Great to see the pattern emerging. Love the ratio study. Wonder what it will be with a handkerchief weight linen -- hmmmm. Sabrina

I am awed. This is so cool. That pattern would look marvelous on Italian Ren sleeves.
