The Travels and Adventures of Mademoiselle de Richelieu (1744) ...

… now resides in my computer as a pdf scan, thanks to my UCB library membership. (Sorry, the use contract does not allow redistribution of the downloaded files.) At some point when the initial thrill has worn off, I will contemplate revising it into an interesting-to-modern readers story. In addition to significant parts of the novel being more travelogue than story, I've already spotted a scene with mild but problematic anti-semitism, and the romance would need to be foregrounded a bit more and made less coy, although the current version would serve as a "public" face for the relationship of the protagonists. I shall contemplate further.
