Thinking way ahead about a party

So I've already determined that I can't manage to fit my 50th birthday party into the calendar in May (much less on my actual b-day) if I don't want all sorts of people to not be able to make it. So I'm currently wavering between pencilling it in on Sunday June 1 and one day or the other of the weekend of June 28-29. Is there anything I'm utterly forgetting that might make one of those days more or less preferable than the others? (The party theme is still nebulous -- defaulting to Food, Friends, and Hanging Out -- although I'm working on coming up with something clever.)

I'm good for those days (hint, hint).

No hinting necessary! (One of the party themes I'm contemplating is "what is the point of having foodie friends if you don't exploit them?" and asking people to bring dishes in lieu of presents. But that's still only one random idea.)

I am probably more likely good for 1 Jun than for 28-29 Jun, as 28 June is my parents wedding anniversary and 30 June is my mother's 75th birthday (following on from Dad's 75th on 17 May), and though they have said they do not want a Sesquicentennial party, they do want a family trip, and I suspect that if the family trip is not around 28-29 June, I will still be wanted in Cayucos that weekend.

Quandry over Dates

Glad I'm not the only one having fits trying to wedge a personal celebration into my calendar. My birthday was in February and since it's a rather significant milestone (50th as well), I thought I'd do a Roaring 20's themed thingie. Then there was the logistics of space -- not in my teeny house -- and expense -- food, drink, hall, etc -- and then most of the people I wanted to come would be at Estrella during that time. So, I looked at August (an appropriate half-year un-birthday time) and realized the only date I have open would conflict with Purg. Fooey. I may just go ahead with it that weekend and make it a pool-party hafla thingie in my backyard instead as I can't see us sweltering in Erte inspired coats, frocks with rolled silk stockings, three-piece suits with fedoras and the like.

Hope you have better luck with planning your bash!
