Many pixels later ...

Just got my contribution to International Pixel-Stained Technopeasant Day up on my web site. It took a bit longer than expected because it turns out the only electronic copy I had wasn't quite the final draft so I had to do a detailed comparison with the published version. There's a brief introduction here with a couple of viewing options. I'll be posting pointers at various IPSTD sites tomor...later today. Tired now.

Put in about 4 hours of work (plus an hour of assorted waiting around) at Ed Levine park. There was a good crowd for the work party including the Youngest Brother, so we got in some hanging-outage.

Please Finish the Novel!

I really enjoyed this story. I found it quite moving and even inspiring. But at the end I was a little disappointed -- not by the ending itself but by the fact that the story was now over. I wanted more, and especially to know what happened next (but thought it clever and effective, despite being annoying, that we were left to our own devices to imagine what happened next).

Then, the next night (yes, I was up way too late on Monday), as I was thinking about the story again (yes, still thinking about it the next day) I recalled what was said in the intro about how this story was "in essence, the opening scene of" a novel, and the thought made me quite happy indeed :-)

So, please, please, finish that novel! I'm hooked...

Hee hee hee. Now that's exactly the reaction I want. Yes, it aspires to grow up to be a novel, and I have some fragments of chapter 2 written, as well as some notion of developing character inter-relationships. What I haven't figure out yet is the overall shape of the plot. So far it's just a guiding premise** cleverly disguised in fantasy clothing so that I'm not constrained by existing literature and history.

**The guiding premise, of course, being, "What if King Arthur had shown up in a medieval English court and proclaimed himself the savior of Wales?"

If it would help, I'm willing to walk in the hills with you and ask stupid questions ;-)

[Did I mention that I really, really, really want the rest of this story?]
