For me, at least, there's more to it than not taking pictures because I have things to do. I have made a conscious decision to avoid taking pictures at events in order to ensure that I do things. Long before I became active in the SCA I learned that the camera sets up too much of a barrier - if I let myself get into observer mode it's hard to get out. I hope the active SCA photographers manage a better balance, because otherwise they're missing out.

(Of course this means I have few pictures of my SCA friends and acquaintances. Such is life.)
