The good news: we have achieved a door. The more problematic news: the contractor was expecting it to arrive as an assembled unit that could just be inserted into the hole in the house, but it turns out the frame part of it needs to be assembled from long skinny parts. (Hey, I've only seen the carton.) So he needs to talk to me about some aspects of this, which is going to happen after work since I've already popped home twice so far today. I have confidence that something will be worked out.

Door drama

The upshot is that the contractor thinks he needs someone more experienced in door assembly to help him on the work. And he knows a guy ... and the guy says he thinks he can fit it in tomorrow morning before he hops on a plane to the midwest to attend his father's funeral. Or, Mr Contractor says, we could get a pre-hung door from somewhere else and return this one for a refund. And I'm thinking, We could get a pre-hung door from someone who says it'll take 4 weeks to supply it .... So we're going ahead with the funeral-attending door guy. If he can't manage it tomorrow, then there's still space in the overall schedule to do it the week after Thanksgiving. Why is my life filled with drama?

But I'm packed, organized, and ready to go, and it looks like I can get in bed by 9pm to catch at least 6 hours sleep before the airport shuttle shows up.
