Heavy Lifting
Dec. 16th, 2006 02:07 pmFinally got the woodstove moved back into place and the cabinets stacked in the kitchen. (I had to do some serious reassurance that the cabinets really would fit in the space available. The first time they tried, they were working under the ceiling light which has a ΒΌ inch lip -- just enough to make the difference. But finally they got the right angle and everything went perfectly.) So the stove is all hooked up -- I'll probably try some burn tests tomorrow with newspaper (to make sure it won't smoke up the room) and then try a real fire. The computer stuff is all transferred and the spare bedroom is almost ready for habitation. Eventually I need to really clear out its closet, but that needn't happen right now. In fact, one of the next steps is to make a list of "sorting through" tasks that break down the next stage into manageable pieces. (This is a "next stage" that takes place next year.) Today, I think I'll aim for assembling the dining room chairs, getting the last few loose items in the living room put somewhere, and finishing the week's housecleaning (it being the first week I've been able to do the full task list since June). Oh, and going to a holiday party.
