One out of four ain't bad
Jan. 24th, 2007 11:19 pmOddly enough, all my stress at work this week has been completely unrelated to the presence of the international inspectors (see
thread_walker's posts). Instead, I'm stuck in an infinite loop of updating and revising a bunch of tables, graphs, and memos relating to my current Big Investigation (tm). Everyone loves the tables and graphs. Everyone wants the memos. But they're loving them to death with constant requests for tweaking and updating. I finally got a chance to do some actual new work on one of my other investigations round about the time I should have been going home. Even staying late didn't save me from getting asked to revise a couple of the memos one more time, so I gave up and figured I might as well leave. I told my principal persecutor ... ahem, QA counterpart that I was starting a pool on when he was going to succeed in making me cry. He asked if he could get in on the action but I pointed out that there was a serious conflict of interest. (There also wasn't a real pool, but I get so mad about stress making me choke up that I have to turn it into a joke.) Somewhere in mid-afternoon I started fantasizing about going out for sushi to de-stress. By quitting time, I'd worked the fantasy up to soaking in a hot tub being fed sushi by beautiful women while getting a shoulder massage.
Relaxed now.
