Since all my friends are doing it ...

...no more, no less. They don't have to be the *only* things in your mind, just the first things you'd do, or the major ones, or the weirdest ones.
My first thought is "how big is 'big'?" If the answer is "arbitrarily large; sufficient for whatever list you come up with" then my three are:
1. Pay off my mortgage (yeah, I know, everyone's doing this boring one).
2. Invest a chunk suitable to provide me with a comfortable lifetime income.
3. Endow a chair of Welsh Studies at U.C. Berkeley.
After that, I would settle in to spending my days researching, writing, and publishing.
