Ideas for drought tolerant plants for redesigning the front lawnish thing. (My idea is to organize plantings around a small stone bench.)

Lavender - several varieties; esp Provence, Hidcote, Dutch Mill, not so much the Stoechas varieties

Thyme - I never could make it work in the knot garden where it got too little sun

Already have plenty of rosemary, although an upright might fit in

Dwarf manzanita? Does of stay dwarf?

No Salvia! No ceanothus!

Buddleua? Maybe, but everyone's doing it these days

Lavatera looks interesting, nice height and color without much width

Barberry? Only if I can get a fruiting variety. Hmm, some descriptions mention thorns. Reconsider.

Myrtle? Look into habits

Rockrose? Good color, check habits.

Some traffic-hardy ground cover would be good.

No, I may not buy plants today. I may only window-shop. Check out stepables.com for those traffic-resistant groundcovers.

No buying!

No, I may not buy roses today. I may not buy any plants until I've finished the Spring(!) weeding and dead plant inventory.

Yeh. Like that was going to happen.

And despite running off to buy plants that I had no business buying today, I've moved forward on three projects. For the "Hoods from Viking-era Dublin" class, I've created the text for the handout (still need to format and print it), put together the kits (except for needing to get needles for them), and made the demo piece. For the "Heraldic jobs in the SCA" class, I've drawn up extensive working notes and just need to format them in a more readable fashion. For the guest room redecorating, I've put down the deposit on the wall bed (which puts it in their queue to make), scheduled the flooring people to come in to do the measurements and estimate, listed the current bed on Freecycle and found a taker, and drawn up a to-do list for the other related tasks. (To play with my new iPhone to-do app.)

(because if I don't do it now while the thoughts are fresh, it ain't gonna get done)

Getcher spoilers right here! Fresh piping hot spoilers! )
