A jam-packed life
Oct. 31st, 2010 10:01 pmYesterday I went and hung out with the family at my Dad's in Stockton for his 81st birthday. There was much watching of sporting events, dinner out at a Mexican seafood place, and cake. Based on tonight's results, it's clear that the Giants only win when I'm not watching the game. Therefore, given that I don't have any plans to watch tomorrow ....
I had a pumpkin and treats all picked up in preparation for the usual meagre trickle of trick-or-treaters, but then ended up abandoning them to go hang out and work on sewing at
scotica's place in support of our goal of doing something together at least once every month. So I guess the folks at work will get a leavening of packets of trail mix along with the glut of leftover halloween candy. In planning the day's sewing, I determined that I don't actually need to make anything new in order to be dressed appropriately to serve at the 1440s Spanish feast at Collegium, so I can focus entirely on
vittoriosa's outfit for Investiture. I have about 2/3 of the handwork done on the undergown and about 80% of the work done on the leggings, and since the fabric for the overgown won't be available until Friday at earliest, I'm feeling quite on top of things.
Tomorrow, in solidarity with those folks tackling NaNoWRiMo, I will be joining my less ambitious fellows at International Write Something Month and posting daily progress reports on my goal of writing something new every day on my Work In Progress. (The same one I was working on last year for IWriSloMo.) As usual, November may be the most challenging month of the year for a commitment of this type, but I suppose that make the victory more glorious.
And at work I'm getting loaned out to another department for a little while, so I get to learn an entirely new set of basic groundwork for investigations. (I did, however, volunteer to be loaned for exactly this reason. I like learning new things.)
If I haven't come out of my slump, I'm doing a darned good imitation of it.
