The much-touted "free to everyone" HBO coverage of the "We Are One" inauguration concert in DC today is "free to everyone who has cable tv or a Windows computer". None of the local broadcast stations are airing the HBO feed and the web broadcast on the HBO website only works with Windows machines. Ah well, I've got the NPR broadcast and my imagination, I guess.

ETA: I'm so glad I have the excuse of "I'm trying to rest up and shake this cold" for just lolling around in bed listening to the concert. It totally rocks! (And then there are all the delicious layers of potential "message" embedded in the program and the performers. I'm still mulling over the part where they did the historic retrospective about Marion Anderson's concert on the Mall, echoing it by the performance of God Bless America with the soloists backed by the DC Gay Men's Chorus. Message anyone? I hope so.)

Will this help? I'm still trying to read it, but thought I should share.

That article seems to be specifically about the inauguration ceremony on the 20th. (On the 20th, I hope to slip over to the company cafeteria where they have the big screen tvs running CNN continuously.)

I was looking at the blurb about the concert on the HBO main page, and saw a link to something called 'flip4Mac' after the info - don't know if that helps or not. They were going to do a repeat of the concert online at 7 ET/PT.

I tried that. Fail. I guess nobody at HBO cared enough about Mac users to even give it a test-drive before putting the link on the website. (I saw other comments indicating that older Windows systems were out in the cold, too.) I mean, how hard is it to pick a live-streaming method that's as interface-neutral as possible?

Interesting; I can watch it on a Linux system... I just had to install the right codecs.
