I accomplished at Crown precisely what I intended: hanging out, chatting, and avoiding physical discomfort. (Not much to ask for.) By cutting the paraphernalia down to what I could carry in a shoulder-pouch, I had that useful mobility that helps me avoid plunking my stuff down in one friend's pavilion and then not circulating much. (My social engineering may be weird, but I'm discovering what works for me.) The first order of the day was taking delivery of vegetables from [livejournal.com profile] albionwood: a bunch of rainbow chard and an armful of Leeks of Suggestively Large Proportions. The more ordinary (for an SCA event) shopping resulted in one of [livejournal.com profile] acanthusleaf's laurel rings (since there were several in my size range this time) and a cookpot from Reannag Teine. (I love encouraging SCA commercial artisans who are doing historic reproductions. And you have to admit that the best way to encourage them is to buy the stuff. Life is so difficult.) I got collared to judge one of the A&S competitions (spinning) which, I confess, is actually something I enjoy doing. (I also hope that the people whose stuff I judge think I'm good at it -- it's always hard to get feedback on that.)

The tourney part of the event ended fairly late, followed by the obligatory post-tourney Chivalry meeting. The vast majority of people must have figured that was going to be their only reasonable chance for dinner, and I think a lot of people went off-site for it, since the site seemed to turn into a ghost town around that time. It being 7pm with no anticipation of court any time soon (the Chiv meeting was still going on) and the wind turning sharply cold, I decided it was time to bug out. So I adjourned to [livejournal.com profile] claning's place in Davis for dinner and then home to bed at a reasonable hour.

Today I have accomplished:
* Lying around in bed as long as I felt like it. (Only until 9am, alas.)
* Grocery shopping.
* Beginning the process to covert the Leeks of Suggestively Large Proportions into leek-mushroom soup.
* Prepared the week's lunches.
* Had the chard for dinner (sauteed in chopped bacon with one of the leeks, then served over cheese toasts with a splash of balsamic).
* Checked out the bicycle and got the tires pumped up. Given that it's officially Spring, it's time to start riding to work again.

And there's still plenty of time to do something about that Work Brought Home if I feel like it.

That sounds like a great way to prepare the chard & leeks. Hope they were tasty!

Yup, useful comments from someone who knows what she's talking about are very good. Thanks.

I SAW those bunches of vegetables lying on the jewelry table! And I thought, wow, what a lucky person who gets to take home that beautiful chard. Or were multiple people blessed with those veggies?

I wasn't the only vegetable-shopper! (Unless you saw me when I was balancing a leek on my nose, you missed the brief period before I stashed them in my car.)
