Given that I often listen to the news before going to bed, and given that I wake up to news on the clock radio, you'd think that when all the weather people are talking about the unusual pressure formations that are going to turn the Bay Area into an oven today, I just might have paid attention enough to dress appropriately? Nah.

This is the weather we're supposed to have in October -- the rain gives way to blazing heat, the falling leaves dry out crisply and turned into powder that then gets blown into your eyes, and the back of your brain is constantly analyzing the breeze for the scent of brush fires. It doesn't belong in November. November is for not having to think about putting on long-sleeved turtlenecks in the morning.

On the other hand, it's nice to enjoy weather like this without constantly sniffing the breeze for smoke. October was nice that way this year, come to think of it. And after the endless days of fog we had up here in July-September, I'll take whatever sunshine we get.

Also, it's always fun to read/watch weather reports from the rest of the country. LJ is good for that. Yesterday, one friend was freezing in the biting wind and 14 F temps at Grand Forks ND, while another was driving through slush in Michigan.

Hot? Hot? It was barely 75, almost a bearable temperature. I missed our hot September weather. Where were the days of pleasant 80 degrees? I've been cold all summer and now i'll be colder all winter (whine, whine)
