The academic world is so small... my dad was at Cornell too (grad school and postdoc). :-) I was actually born in Ithaca, but haven't been there since I was little.
Not only that, but one of his old profs is now at UCSC and apparently I am supposed to meet him and his family sometime in the next couple weeks.
