Given the season, savory is probably better (since everyone will be getting their fill of sweets). As to how many servings, I don't really have a good idea of how many people are likely to show up. So I'm thinking in terms of people making "one platter's worth" sorts of amounts. I.e., whatever amount is most convenient for you to make and to deliver in a presentable state. Does that make sense?
