For any future yens, I don't especially recommend spending theater prices on Percy Jackson. The book is much better, and most of the effects will not suffer for being viewed small-screen. Unless you're really, really interested in CGI hydras, the two minutes (tops) you see it is probably not worth the scratch.
My nine year old was about 2/3 through the book when we saw it, and he was not very happy with the changes they made to the story. I'd finished the book, and was even less impressed with their artistic adjustments, most of which I don't think were particularly necessary in translating the book to the movie. I'd have been perfectly happy to see it when it hits the free movie channels.
