Sarah Waters is kind of like the Stephen King of lesbian romance: if you've heard of one writer in the genre, you've heard of her. She writes good stuff -- don't get me wrong. But one writer writing good stuff is not enough to build a genre on. We need a hundred Sarah Waters's all writing their own flavors.
