Cafe quest
Jun. 17th, 2006 07:51 pmAs I noted back some months ago, I had this favorite coffee shop for weekend mornings that was right next door to the Arizmendi bakery on San Pablo, but it closed down. So I've been shopping on and off for a replacement. My fallback position has been to pick up baked goods at Arizmendi and then go to Starbucks for the coffee and comfy chairs. (I'd go to Peets, but they have a sign explicitly forbidding outside food, and their own baked goods just aren't up to the Arizmendi standard.) Today when I stopped by Arizmendi, I noticed that the new Hawaiian cafe that had been mentioned on the neighborhood e-mail list was open and figured I'd give it a try instead. Alas, while I like supporting local cafes, this one was seriously nothing special in the way of food. Not inedible, but not likely to tempt me back. So the cafe quest goes on.
And, yes, the lawn got done: mowing, edging, and weed-whacking and all. I may yet pull some sewing out -- I still owe the universe a creative project from last weekend.
