I wanna be out in the sunshine

... but I'm stuck here at my desk because I'm not sure when the meeting I'm presenting at is and I can't afford to go off-site. After much confusion about whether mom's hip operation was going to be moved up to Monday, the hospital was emphatic that it was still scheduled for the original pre-break slot on this (Tuesday) afternoon. Then without much, if any, warning, they moved it to this morning. So I wasn't expecting a status call from dad until at least mid-afternoon my time, and was startled to get one at 9am PDT saying that the surgery was over and she was okay. (Unexpected phone calls are Not A Good Thing at the moment in general.) I didn't get many other details since the connection was bad, but I figure there will be e-mail waiting when I get home. Yesterday, between long decompression talks with the neighbors, checking e-mail before doing chores, and phone calls, and then all the usual chores, it was 9pm before I sat down to dinner. Stress may not be the recommended way to lose weight, but at least it's efficient.

Must call flooring people to see if they have my estimate and can schedule.
