Ceremonies for our times
Oct. 9th, 2006 09:58 pmSK's hair-cutting ceremony was very satisfying: lots of friends and family, lots of food, crowding together for the last "before" photos, then the hair stylist snipped off the four braids one at a time, ceremonially handing them off to attendants who rubber-banded the top and dropped them in the zip-lock to be sent off to Locks of Love. Then the celebrant was whisked off to the hair salon before any inconvenient "between" pictures could be taken and the do was finished up properly. Afterwards, there was cake and ice cream.
xrian and I couldn't stay for dinner as we had a 4 and 5 hour drive back home ahead of us.
My fit-it-in-the-odd-moments project currently is putting together the "Knowledge is Priceless" CD from this past Spring Collegium (various handouts and teaching materials that teachers were willing to have included). It doesn't take all that much work but somehow always gets done at the last minute. I rather suspect that things aren't organized enough for there to be one from this coming Collegium (and I'm not sure I'd volunteer to wrangle it if there were). But we'll see.
