Statements of Affirmation
Oct. 20th, 2006 05:24 amI am THAT student; you know, that one annoying student there must be in every class. We had our biostatistics midterm last night. I couldn't help it. When the teacher announced that the exam would consist of 5 homework problems from the textbook -- 5 homework problems that we'd already done for homework -- I blurted out, "Can't we have something challenging?" A voice from the other side of the room said, "Please note that she does not speak for the entire class."
I am a properly socialized hunter-gatherer.
thread_walker stopped by my office this afternoon with a bag of Scharfenberger chocolate squares as a thank you present for doing the Collegium CDs. And even though it was Scharfenberger, I not only shared them around with the co-workers, but I went out and offered them to other key personnel who have provided chocolate to me in the past. One of the recipients, confused, asked if I didn't like chocolate that much. So I had to explain the whole thing about properly-socialized hunter-gatherers and how it is essential to share special windfalls as a tribal bonding experience. I may have a warped set of social skills, but at least I've managed to acquire one.
I am finally ready for Fall to start. The morning fog has gotten into my soul ... and I've noticed that the colder it is at night the better I'm sleeping. Odd, but true.
