Alpennia Writing Retreat: Day 3
Dec. 21st, 2015 06:33 pmToday felt like about the same amount of work as yesterday, but it was really more because I didn't have the same headstart. The "go for a walk with the dictaphone" method of avoiding distractions has, as predicted, fallen afoul of the rain. I hereby take personal credit for any rain that falls this week. I decided to see if I could exercise self-control and work on my laptop without the constant online distractions. Obviously, it worked, but I think tomorrow I really will try writing longhand instead.
A couple fun twists got added today just because they seemed to fit. Kreiser gets to do something clearly villainous once more. Serafina is getting messily conflicted about just what she wants from life. I probably need to go back and clear up certain aspects of the opera that may be inconsistent. I think when this whole first draft is finished, it's really going to hit me how many different strands "just need a bit of cleaning up for continuity and consistency." I've tried to make notes as I go along, but...
I'll probably do some more massaging of the outline for chapter 27 tonight, just to have it all ready for tomorrow.
Sat. Dec 19: Chapter 23 (Barbara) and 24 (Luzie) (clean-up only)
Sun. Dec 20: Chapter 25 (Jeanne) 827 words, needs more outline
