It occurs to me that Sorcerer to the Crown also stands in the neighborhood of the "logical-scientific-men's magic vs. chaotic-instinctual women's magic" camp. Not quite so strongly, because the basic position in that world is "women are too delicate to do magic at all...except magic designed to suppress their magic."
The trope reminds me of some of the comments aryanhwy was making on Twitter on the topic of "women philosophers" vs "feminist philosophers" vs. "philosophers who happen to be women".
