I had to get over the 'make do myself' attitude quite a while ago and learn that it was not the end of the world to ask for accommodation while traveling, too. Little things like an extension cord in the hotel room or telling the gate agent I need more time on the jetway (while leaning on a cane) were hard things to do at first, but no one has ever been mean or nasty to me so I have gradually gotten past the 'I can't ask others for help, ever!' mind set. I still try and do for myself, but realize that some days are better than others and especially when traveling I need to be careful not to over-do any one activity, whether it is active or not, so I can make it home and not collapse for a week afterwards! Good for you on your extended plans - it was fun to read of your post-con adventures! Take care of yourself and rest up. I just have a feeling that this fall a lot of us are going to be more active than before (in lots of ways). So glad you had such a good trip!
