The World We Make was the rare sequel where I liked it better than the first book. IIRC, that ended on such a down note - Staten Island betraying all of humanity because she was a racist little git. I mean, I got it (a pointed commentary on the recent events where white women weaponize the police against POC) but it was still just a downer. And I wasn't sure if there would be a sequel, or whether the author just intended to have Staten Island permanently taken over by inter dimensional predators.
