From the foregoing, one might conclude that we failed in our quest to achieve San Francisco as scheduled. One would be right. The plane was delayed in Bangor, first by its late arrival on its previous leg, second by some pesky ice that they had to clear out of the runways. It then was delayed in arriving at the Detroit terminal. Not so much arriving in Detroit, just at the terminal. We sat on the tarmac about 50 feet from the gate for nearly an hour while they had some sort of technical difficulty with the gate equipment. Our connecting flight to SFO was already scheduled too close to call given the delayed takeoff, but that put the nail in the coffin. The next SF flight will be tomorrow morning. Northwest sprung for hotel and food vouchers and we ran into a series of incredibly nice baggage people who not only assisted us in getting our bags pulled from checked luggage, but in one case helped us verify that the Northwest food vouchers could be used at the hotel coffee shop. I have a wake-up call in 6 hours. Good night.
