Timing, timing
Aug. 28th, 2007 10:10 pmIt just figures that my jury duty summons is for precisely the one week on which I've planned my vacation. And rather than being able to say, "Look, I already have plans to be out of town that week, but I'd be delighted to come in the next week" ... no, if you want to defer service, you have to postpone it not less than six months. Yes, indeed, they want me to pick a date six months from now when I am sure I won't be unavoidably occupied in some fashion. Grrr. So I picked early April -- no trips planned during that month, at least. And given that one of my co-workers just spent three weeks out on jury duty, it isn't a bad thing to delay a bit. It still seems an awkward way to run a legal system.
I'm finishing up the two new pairs of pants this evening. The painting prep is progressing precipitously. Got rid of a couple more freecycle items. It occurs to me that I need to get a move on if I'm going to get rid of a small pile of stuff to Ducal Prize Tourney this weekend. (Hmm, it occurs to me that, if necessary, I could drive out to the event just to drop off donations.
