Went to Mists Investiture yesterday, although as usual I wasn't paying much attention to the "official business" of the day. Somehow, when throwing together clothing to take, I manged to forget shoes. I briefly considered just keeping the sneakers on, but decided some further effort was required, so I stopped in the Rite Aid across from the site and managed to find some house slippers that looked a lot more medievally-innocuous as well as being something I had a practical use for. I pretty much spent the whole day schmoozing and fiddling with some more of that Birka spun-wire stuff. I'd picked up some silver-plated craft wire to try it with and managed to turn the entire coil of wire into about 8 feet of finished spun coil over the course of the day. That gives me something of a baseline standard for estimating how much in the way of time and materials would be required for various projects. (Now I jut need to measure how much of the spun coil is taken up by various finished knots.) The Turkish feast that finished off the event was absolutely delicious and -- unlike all too many SCA dinners -- was exactly the right amount of food.

Today I had a movie date with another of the Craig's List respondents -- more elsewhere.

I still say those shoes look planned and not just the luck of random shopping.
