Half-heated

I've achieved at least partial heat for the winter. Cleaned out the wall register and lit the pilot light. I couldn't quite figure out how to fix the fan -- at some point last winter it came off its axle (after a period of annoying noise), but there isn't an obvious fastening mechanism to fix or replace. I don't think it simply sheared off, but there aren't any remnants of other mechanisms, and the axle doesn't have any obvious doohickies such as threads or the like to provide a hint. On the other hand, I have a regular portable fan and I've set it up to provide some air circulation for better efficiency in the upstairs. Then I tried to install the new glass in the woodstove door and discovered that the piece they sold me is the wrong size. Right shape -- just one inch too tall. So back again to see what can be done. It's annoying because I gave them the stove model and they said this was the official replacement part. So no woodstove yet.
