At one point (months ago) I was thinking that for 12th Night I'd make some new 15th c. boy clothes, so I'd have something better fitting for the Perfectly Period Feast. Then I decided I didn't want to invest the time in making fitted stuff until I'm done with this whole changing-shape thing. No new clothes, then. So last night I decided it was about time to figure out what I was going to wear Saturday. Settled on the Bathilde outfit (embroidered tunic and long coat), which I haven't worn for a while. I finally got around to doing some repair work on my embroidered circlet (been dropping pearls for a while now), and had also pencilled in finally adding a lining to the Bathilde coat. I got as far as pulling out the lining material and verifying the measurements for the lining pieces then decided it wouldn't kill me to wear it unlined again and I had no interest in staying up 'til midnight sewing. If there's one thing I've gotten very good at through practice, it's identifying projects that really don't fit into the available time and that aren't essential anyway. I feel less happy about not having done any baking or the like in order to have casual presents to give out, but inspiration never struck. I'm also not putting together anything for a grazing table. I feel like such a slacker.

Over lunch with [livejournal.com profile] thread_walker today I put forth something resembling resolutions for the year. The first two are to do an overhaul of both my SCA and everyday wardrobes. The second is to identify six top priority projects (out of the 80+ on my master list) to work on during the year and complete at least three of them. And while I'm coming up with irresolutions for the year, let's add in "start playing music regularly again" and "complete either a new first draft or a complete revision-of-existing-draft for at least one novel". (These being irresolutions rather then resolutions, I have no actual obligation to complete them.)

Not this year. This year I'm not adding any additional external commitments or deadlines. In theory, this is the year for which I've cleared the decks to be All About Me.** (I wasn't actually successful in clearing the decks, but I get a personal moratorium on any of my existing commitments.) All my goals and projects will be personal and squishy of deadline. The conference does look interesting -- maybe some time in the future.

**The Year Of Me is my way of celebrating turning 50. There are other aspects of the celebration planned as well.
