As the Mortgage Turns

You knew there was going to be at least one more complication, didn't you? You know that bit about how the deed to the house was transferred (temporarily) from the partnership to my Mom & Dad for the purposes of getting a better refinance arrangement for the Visalia land deal? Well, funny thing, it turns out the same thing applies to my refinance: the quoted rate is based on an assumption that the property is owned by individuals, not by a partnership. So having filed the deed to change title from M&D to the partnership, now I have to turn around and file a new deed to change title from the partnership to M&D and me as individuals. Argh. (My mortgage rep has taken all the blame on herself for this oversight -- I'd given her all the necessary information from the start, but it hadn't clicked in her brain that the partnership thing made a difference. On the other hand, I could have made the connection myself.)
It looks like this is going to be a rather simple fix, though. Since I can sign for the partnership, there's no mailing paperwork cross-country this time. (And if any issues come up, I can always try waving the power of attorney I have for my parents, although the last time I tried that there were technical reasons why it didn't work.) And my mortgage rep says that getting the title straightened out is the last thing needed before the mortgage goes through -- she thinks we may have it tidied up by the end of next week, end of the month for certain.
But tomorrow I get to sacrifice my lunch hour to finding a notary (there's one at Bayer, which may speed up the process) and then bopping back to the county clerk's office. Good thing I have an understanding boss.
