I'm just Ms Post-a-lot these days, aren't I?

#1 - Since I'm not going skiing this weekend, I can go to the Oakland Museum White Elephant Sale. Yay.

#2 - After plateauing in the low 160s for several weeks, this week I've broken into the high 150s. This is possibly related to ...

#3 - After 50 days (as compared to the usual 29) I finally got my period this week. Sort of. Before I started losing weight, my cycle never noticeably affected my weight. In the last three or so months, there's been a clear pattern of dropping several pounds right before my period starts and then more or less plateauing until the next month. Odd, but data is data. As a fanatic data analyst, I will no doubt obsess over this new set of numbers far too much while it continues doing amusing things.

#4 - I've been lurking for some time now on the Making Light blog, which is renowned for the random poetic emissions of its participants. I finally had the perfect excuse to contribute one of my own verses when the conversation turned from the general topic of zombies and brains to the more specific topic of Creutzfeld-Jakob Disease. On which topic I once wrote a sonnet. Several people took kind notice of my efforts.

#5 - Um ... five ... um ... er ... Look! A deer!

Congratulations on the weight loss! It's so tough to do and you really should be proud of yourself.

One of the things I've found out is that fat sequesters estrogen, and when you shed fat you get more estrogen dumped back in your bloodstream. This may very well be influencing the cyclic thing you're seeing happen.

But overall, you go girl!

Oh, I think this is just garden variety peri-menopause. But we'll see -- maybe I'll settle down to regularity again for a few more years. You never know. (And look at it this way: if it is peri-menopause and the only symptom I have is a high standard deviation, I'm getting off easy.)

I still want to know when the "pause" part arrives! /grin

My lady had normal cycles until she hit 50, it shut off like a tap, and she doesn't even have hot flashes!

It's interesting how widely women's experiences of this part of our lives varies.

For my Mom, it was age 59. That make you feel any better?

(And I seem to be on track to follow her. I've already had one round of "this shouldn't still be happening, let's make sure there's nothing wrong..... nope, everything's fine...." concern out of the doctors....)
