Gorgeous day today -- a bask-worthy sun, the sound of lawnmowers, and the scent of heliotrope in the air. I drove down to pick up my PPF-bench from [livejournal.com profile] ppfuf and swung by OSH on the way home to pick up stain and varathane ... and since there was some final sanding needed, I figured it was a nice excuse for Power Tools and bought myself a power sander. (During which process, the OSH salesman managed to pack an astonishing number of obnoxious assumptions into a single sentence by advising me that, "Your husband can help you figure out how to use it.") While working on the sanding I got a call from the Tree Guy who had an unexpected opening in his schedule tomorrow and wanted to know if it would work for me. So tomorrow is going to be one of those packed-full days that makes me glad my job hours are flexible: hang out at home until the Tree Guy arrives ca. 8:30-9:00, go to work, take a late lunch and swing by the credit union because the Tree Guy wants to be paid in cash (I'm assuming because his assistants are going to be day-laborers that he wants to pay in cash) then go to my orthopedics appointment at Kaiser (to look at the ganglial cyst on the thumb), swing by home to check out the tree work and pay them, back to Big B to finish out the workday.

Oh, and the crow? And the woodshed? Well, the Tree Guy said he could cut up the various fruitwoods into stove-sized chunks and stack them in the woodshed, so I needed to clean out the shed and make sure one side was empty for him to use. And in the process, I discovered a small heap of black feathers in the back of the shed. Too many to be a random accumulation, and the shed is an unlikely place for a crow to go intentionally, so I'm guessing that some local predator took it in there for a meal. At any rate, the entire shed is swept out, the old wood is stacked neatly to one side, and the other side is ready for a new load.

Didn't manage to get the taxes or the writing assignment done, but that's ok.

"Your husband can help you figure out how to use it."

Although I originally read this three days ago, I'm coming back to comment now because the astonishing cluelessness of this sentence continues to amaze and disturb me.
