What a day

Tree Guy has been and gone. The day went something like this: Wait for Tree Guy to show up at 9am (an hour after I usually go to work). Go to work. Take late lunch so that it runs into my Dr.'s appointment. Go to credit union and get cash to pay Tree Guy. Go to Kaiser and eat lunch sitting in my car in the parking lot. Go to Dr.'s appt. (I misremembered, it was the dermatologist about the mole, not the orthopedist about the thumb.) Go home and check out tree work. Approve of tree work. Pay Tree Guy. Return to work. At 5pm find out that the contaminated fermenter I've just been assigned to investigate hasn't been disassembled yet and take the opportunity to look at it in situ (since I was staying late anyway). Gown up. Poke around in the production area and get brain-dump from supervisors on duty. Gown out. Leave work at 6:30. And then the usual post-work stuff.

The back yard is noticeably lighter now -- although a few of the struggling berry bushes got knocked about a bit in the process of taking out the apple. They left me a whole bunch of stove-sized cut wood, although only half of it made it into the woodshed. (They weren't very ambitious about stacking it efficiently.) The nook in the front stairs where the diseased juniper used to be looks very naked. But maybe next weekend I'll have time to go out and shop for something to put in as a replacement for the apple. And there are a few other pruning jobs that I should work in since I"m on a roll (like shaping the laurel tree a bit more drastically). Tired now.
