I love this time of year
Nov. 11th, 2005 07:55 pmI love the gray clouds and the leftover bits of rain in the morning. I love the fact that it's actually cold enough to wear vests and scarves and maybe occasionally a suit-coat to work. I don't love that it's too dark when I get off work to feel safe bicycling among the commuters heading for the freeway, so I give up the bicycle for the winter. I love the process of hacking back everything in the garden. I don't love having to dispose of all the hacked-off bits, one green-trash can at a time.
I am now going to experiment with the mechanics of hiding text behind a cut. It is not intuitively obvious.
I tried to go off and see the new remake of Pride and Prejudice but they were sold out for the show I had in mind and I didn't feel like waiting around for the next one. Picked up some take-out at the Emery Bay food court. Maybe I'll start setting up the new laptop tonight, although I'd rather get to bed on time.

Date: 2005-11-12 02:56 pm (UTC)The liquidambar trees in the back have all turned: green, yellow, orange, red. And rain and cold. Joy.
I'd be interested to know how this version of P&P is...

Date: 2005-11-23 12:55 am (UTC)At least it doesn't get dark as early as it did in Chicago. It would be pitch black out, with a frosty stars twinkling in the sky by 4 PM in December.
I'll probably see P&P - no, not the Prince and Princess :-P with my daughter in SoCal (Sandy Eggo) on Friday. Then we're planning a day-trip to Mexico. She's never been there - we'll just go across the border near Sandy Eggo on Saturday.
I haven't been there since the mid-70s, when i spent a week in some little fishing village - we got "ripped off" - paid $4 per day to rent a one-bedroom house - there was one AAA motel and the backpackers all rented cells in the former colonial jail. It's now some big expensive resort. They had just begun bulldozing down the trees to make a wider road. We went down on the train and took a crazy bus from the more inland city out to the coast.
There was a river we swam in - the water was very clear and the temperature of bath water. Mmm-mmm-mmm. The Gulf of California was also very very warm. Ah, so nice. Warmth...
