Just a data-crunching fool
Aug. 7th, 2008 08:21 pmOk, so last night I stayed late at work because I wanted to get all three investigation reports finished and off my desk. I was supposed to leave at a perfectly normal time today. But somewhere mid-morning I found myself in my boss's office in the following conversation:
Me: Please, please, pleeeeeeease will you assign me the new alpha-galactose investigation? It's going to be so much fun! And Anju and I have already been going through the data together and we've got some great leads, and all the data I put together for the last alpha-gal incident will feed right into this one, and pleeeeeease will you assign me the investigation?
Boss: But I just assigned you a fermenter temperature excursion.
Me: I'll do that one too. Pleeeeeeease?
Boss: Will you promise to get the fermenter temperature closed in less than 30 days?
Me: Oh, very well. I promise.
Boss: Ok, the alpha-gal is yours.
So at 5pm I was in the middle of updating the complete production context in which our aberrant a-g showed up, and there really was no good stopping place until ... ack, wait, I promised
wingedcorset that I'd be home at 7pm so she can pick up laurel branches! Gotta run!
And that is what my work day was like.
