Ups and Downs

On the down side: the process I want to observe at work (for one of my investigations) is scheduled for sometime between 4 and 5 am.
On the up side: if I start my work day at 4am, then I get to leave work at 1pm and can get the car packed and headed for the redwoods before rush hour (and may even arrive at my campsite during daylight).
Brief drama review: Saw Cal Shakes' performance of Uncle Vanya tonight. Can only quote the SF Chronicle reviewer: "Who knew Chekov wrote comedy?" Nice performance. Tragicomic script. Characters you want to slap some gumption into. The old babushka got all the best lines: "Geese -- first they honk, then they're quiet again." (Exact wording not guaranteed.)
