New web content: Early Medieval Manx Names

It's been entirely too long since I put anything new up on the website. (My "what's new" page says since late April when I put up the first draft of the surviving garments search engine, but I did some more fiddling with it in early May as well.) Nothing major -- just cleaned up a few formatting and spelling issues in A Consideration of Pictish Names and A Brief (and Incomplete) Guide to Forming Genitives of Irish Personal Names, but I also webbed up Early Medieval Manx Names which has been sitting around for several years waiting for me to incorporate feedback on the original draft and get it into html. That's two items down off the 82-item computer/publishing project list.

I'm less happy about my online connectivity problems. There was the previously mentioned session with Earthlink support on Friday night. Then Saturday morning it wasn't working again and I just did the dial-up route because I was in a hurry. So this morning I spent four hours (in two separate sessions) walking through more troubleshooting procedures. It seems I can get the system to work fine if I connect directly to the modem, but if I'm using my home wireless network that's when it goes in and out randomly. The Earthlink guys suggest that I need a new Airport wireless station. *sigh* The 2nd and 3rd Earthlink support guys weren't quite as useful as the 1st, but maybe they were mentally downgrading my own competence with each time I had to call them back.
