Fixing Stuff
Nov. 6th, 2006 11:16 pmSo there I am Saturday afternoon sitting on the couch and I hear/feel this *ping* and my glasses spontaneously fall into pieces. I've spent two days in proper nerdish fashion with the frames taped together, but managed to get into the Kaiser optometry department after work today to get them fixed. The frames have, of course, been discontinued, but I brought my old pair with the same frames and they just swapped the lenses.
As if I didn't have enough house-related stuff to work on, I'm now shopping for a new insurance policy. Turns out the old policy was through a special arrangement with some teachers' association that my parents belong to, so now that they aren't part-owners of the property, I can't renew in my own name. Tried the company I have my auto insurance with and they don't insure "commercial" properties built more than 50 years ago. (The house counts as "commercial" for their purposes because it has three units.) So now I'm shopping for quotes through a referral service at work. Let's hope it's more successful than the legal referral service. Oh, and the insurance company gave me all of a month and a half's notice that they won't renew the policy. *sigh*
