Took an afternoon to catch my breath yesterday, but now the whirlwind starts again. This coming weekend is a road trip with
scotica and
xrian to LA for the heraldic symposium. (My goal is to get us on the road by 6am Friday morning.) But first there's the Cal Shakespeare Richard III Thursday evening with
thread_walker. Thursday lunch is the Big B's treat for the whole team involved with validating the new cell bank, which I got sucked into. And today, I made an appointment to have the car serviced tomorrow (including having them look at the overheating problem), which involved zipping home on the bike after work, tossing the bike rack onto the back of the car, and getting down to the Ford dealership by 5:30 to drop it off -- which I didn't quite make. The office staff had gone home already, but one of the mechanics was there and the doors were open, so he let me leave the car inside rather than parked on the street. So I assume they'll get everything taken care of tomorrow, but since I have a lunch date and then meetings that may run over at the end of the day, chances are I'll have to pick the car up Wednesday morning. (This involves getting up an hour before normal and biking to downtown Oakland where the dealership is, to pick up the car when they open at 7:30.) I'm still debating whether to use my car for the LA trip, even assuming the get the overheating problem fixed. It's not that there's anything else actively wrong, it's just that it's one thing to putter around town with an elderly car and another thing to tempt fate by driving it to the other end of the state. On the other hand, if I don't trust it to LA, then I should stop pretending I'm going to take a road trip up to Seattle this summer. Oh, and the odometer countdown (countup?) now stands a bit past 197,500.
