Just got woken up by an amusing little earthquake. Only a 4.2 (at 4:22 -- how cute) but I'm practially sitting on top of the epicenter and it was long enough to get the heart racing a little. I'm guessing Hayward fault, although evidently a bit further south than the cluster we had last December. Once again achieved my goal of reporting it to the "Did you feel it?" web site before they had the quake listed. Nothing fell down or over, but a lot of rattling. Ok, back to bed now.

ETA: Oop, 4:42 not 4:22 -- I was half-asleep, ok?

For my lunchtime bicycle ride I went up to Other Change of Hobbit to find out whether, despite not having put in an advance order, I'd be able to buy the last HP book from them tomorrow. They duly put my name down for one of their copies and Tom mentioned that they'd be doing a midnight sale just like everyone else. So I've decided that just one time I will buy a new Harry Potter book at the stroke of midnight, just so I can say I've done it. Silly, yes. But what the heck. Not sure how hard it will be to find parking (and I'm not about to bicycle up there at midnight) so I figure I'll leave shortly and spend some pre-midnight time hanging out at the store.
